Home Care Services - FAQ
I have family and friends who want to help. Should I rely on them?
Family and friends are a great blessing in time of need. If your problem is limited to a few days or even a few weeks, family and friends may be the answer. It is important to recognize, however, that if they are also attending to other responsibilities, such as work or their own immediate family, they may quickly become over-burdened. Family and friends are not usually a sustainable solution for long-term home care needs.
What qualities should I look for in a home care agency?
Reputable home care agencies:
- are bonded
- provide criminal background checks on all employees
- confirm certification and/or licensure
- provide worker’s compensation insurance
- pay social security and unemployment taxes
- provide supervision & oversight of care
Home care services are expensive. Will Medicare cover the cost?
Medicare does not cover the cost of home care services. Some long-term care (LTC) insurance policies do provide coverage. Check with your benefits manager or call us and a care manager will help you determine if you qualify for benefits.
What happens if I don’t like my assigned caregiver?
We make every effort to ensure the right fit between our clients and their assigned caregivers. Should problems occur, we will listen to your concerns and determine the best course of action. Sometimes that involves additional orientation and coaching. Other times, it means assigning a different caregiver. We are committed to ensuring your satisfaction with the home care you receive.
